Character Name: Tungwynterestemount
Series: Gallifrey
Age: About 120 - 150
From When?: Pandora, upon his death.

Inmate/Warden: Warden. Wynter is a decent soul among vipers and stayed that way right up to the very end where he sacrificed his life in the most painful way conceivable.

Wynter is a man who’s idealistic and keen, but inexperienced. He’s a little more experienced now in not trusting others, though that experience came at the price of his life. He’s empathetic, generous and has a keen sense of duty. He’ll back up his inmate to the hilt and will genuinely want to steer them down the right path.

Item: A hypercube. It’ll turn mauve when the inmate is injured and go dull when the inmate has died.

Abilities/Powers: As a Gallifreyan, Wynter is extremely tough and resilient. He is able to survive extreme cold, due to having a 'souped-up metabolism’ and also survive extreme heat, surviving the subzero temperatures and extremely low pressure of vacuum for around six minutes, as well as electric shocks that would be fatal to humans. Roentgen radiation affects him so minimally that he probably was routinely given radioactive toys in the nursery. He can, at will, absorb very high doses of Röntgen radiation, transform it into a form harmless to humans, and expel it from his body. Radiation of other kinds can be fatal, but even then a Gallifreyan can handle much higher doses than a normal human can, and can hold out much longer than even then most terrestrial life-forms.

He has, especially as a member of the Chancellory Guard has extraordinary reflexes and strength and phenomenal coordination. He also can see more with his eyes. He has a very sensitive sense of taste and can detect blood type, wood type, plastic and date any item he tastes. This follows for his sense of smell. And he also has an acute sense of time.

He can also sense potential time lines, has a photographic memory and can partition his mind in case of trauma. He is also innately telepathic and can initiate this with a touch of his hand. He is, however, highly sensitive and resistant to mind control. Despite being infected with the Pandora infused Dogma Virus, he was able to resist her and accomplish his goal.

Personality: Wynter is a kind, decent and honourable man, who had the misfortune of being born onto a planet and a political situation that was toxic to him.

He is markedly intelligent for a Time Lord as he managed to secure the post of Castellan, the Head of the Chancellory Guards, despite only graduating from the Academy a few months previously.

Unfortunately, this meant he had little in the way of street smarts and thus when he was thrust into the higher echelons of Gallifreyan politics, he was in over his head, and couldn’t tell if someone was manipulating him. He learned when he realised that, as a result of Darkel’s manipulation, he accidentally released Pandora from the small partition in which she was imprisoned.

He is profoundly stubborn and strong willed, to the point that he could resist Pandora, even physically doing himself great harm, without wavering. He was devastated, of course he was, but he still managed to succeed in warning Romana to the nature of the threat the Dogma Virus represented.

He tends to dislike when people underestimate him, being keen to remind Narvin that he knew his limitations and more importantly in his view, the laws that he had to enforce. He was keen to prove himself to those who put their faith in him as well as his detractors and grow into the role, which he would have done had he gotten the opportunity.

Wynter is keenly aware of how inexperienced and new he is. It's something he hears about a lot and has seeped into his consciousness. He doesn't like it and so is impatient, with himself and with others who point it out. This informs his impulsiveness and even his willingness to trust what people have told him. He associates those who criticise him as people who know better about these things and lets his lack of ability to argue their points dictate how he takes what they have to say. They're right and he's wrong. After being played like this, however, he will be on guard about this reaction.

He also has a tendency to get nervous around important figures, speaking of his nickname 'Soggy Bottom' with Romana despite it not being terribly appropriate and not going to garner him points in her finding him a professional Castellan. He wants to be liked by her and Braxiatel as he recognises that they want the best for Gallifrey and appear to him to know what they're doing.

He also is open with his feelings: both his feelings of frustration and his nervousness aren't hidden very well when he interacts with the people he works with. He tries at least to be polite, but the Time Lord sarcasm seeps through ever now and again, if not quite at the levels of his elders.

He treats the men under his command with respect: despite his youth, none of his Guard members question his orders, which is big considering Time Lord culture, and he's not seen to lose temper with them either.

He is extremely dedicated. Wynter suffered a number of setbacks, but he carried on, determined to unearth what was happening and reveal the truth. He believes in the system and that he will be able to bring the situation to a just end, even in the ever increasing evidence that the odds are stacked against it.

Like many of his race, Wynter has a dry sense of humour. He seems to have little issue with snarking with those who are nominally in command of him or at least more experienced. When he arrives on the barge, he'll certainly be more keen to use it as a way of coping with what has happened to him, using sarcasm to deflect how he really feels about his death and the resulting fact that he's trapped on the Barge as much as any inmate.

He'll be more paranoid about dying, even though he's aware of the 'safeties' the barge has in place, and as a result of that will likely take better care of himself, thinking before he puts himself in situations that will risk him. Eventually, he'll find a balance between his own self-defence and the defence of others, but initially, he's likely to go from one extreme to another before finding it.

He will be less keen to take advice to heart without checking the qualities of the person giving it to him but he'll still want a more senior character to help him out and will likely find himself drawn to people who are more savvy than he is. Such relationships, therefore, will not be easy for him to manage and he may well strike out at these kinds of people should he suspect them of being treacherous.

He's also racist, though not to the degree of most of his kind. He hasn't been off his world, so he assumes that what he's been told all his life is true: that Gallifreyans are stronger, smarter and better than 'lesser races'. For most, this means that lesser races are a nuisance and beneath them; for Wynter, he feels that the lesser races simply need a guide and looking after. He's likely to be unintentionally condescending with them for that reason.

He will respect their physical prowess and will probably understand the 'warrior' kind of human better, as the one human that he does have the most contact with is Leela, whose expertise in that area isn't questioned by him. But intellectually, he KNOWS he's smarter and will probably assume that everyone else will too.

Barge Reactions: Wynter will be very surprised that any time has passed and confused about the weather occurring.

Once he settles back down, he’ll be studious, keen and liable to help with Barge security. He’ll be very outgoing, because there’s no actual manual, and will feel reasonably worried as a result: he doesn’t want a repeat of what happened before he died.

He’ll shy away from unwanted telepathic contact for the same reasons and will not tolerate being attacked.

He hadn't had a chance to prove himself in an actual warden/inmate relationship, so he'll be doubting himself until that happens. Whether or not he'll overreach himself in the process remains to be seen and will depend on how savvy the inmate is. It will be a weakness that he'll take very personally.

Sample Journal Entry:

[Wynter is frowning in thought but blinks his way out of his reverie.] I... appeared to have missed some time. I'm... sorry. I can't account for myself nor what... actually happened.

...Why is it cold? Is everything all right? [His jaw tightens, thinking about what may have happened in his absence. Terrible and painful, he figures.] Iris, are you still about?

Sample RP:
There's nothing for it. He's going to have to take the plunge. His feet shuffled for a moment while he straightened his non-existent creases. He came to attention, took a breath and knocked.

The length of time in between the door opening and his knocking seemed to stretch, but finally the sound of snuffling and scrapping was apparent and the door opened.

Wynter plastered an unnatural smile on his face. "Ok, sorry, I took so long, but I'm ready now. If... if you are."

He waited some more, but had to duck out of the way of the dogs as they came out into the corridor heedless of him. He looked over at Iris who was smiling.
