Right.
We have a couple of new people arriving and a number of people seem confused. so I thought a recap on the current situation might be useful.
Thanks to Chromie's pamphlet, which is in the library if anyone wants to pick it up, we all know that floods and ports are events that can change the very nature of the barge. Usually, we don't have any warning coming up to either of these in those cases.
However, there have been two exceptions, both of which have been highly concerning to the passengers. The first is a 'Mirror Barge': where an alternative Barge, staffed by versions of us who are either trapped or enticed by a deal to cause inmates to become more corrupted than they were in life. This means that our counterparts are likely to be more violent or more defeated than they are here.
Like other changes, some of us will be affected and others won't. The Admiral included, although that means that he might not even be there. Given that the Admiral is control of both the deathtoll and whatever requests that come to him, we shouldn't presume that he'd be able to assist us, even if he would wish to.
If you're concerned that you will be changed into someone who will hurt people that you wouldn't, then you should find someone you can trust to take steps on your behalf that you deem appropriate.
[He's not going to ask people to arrange their own murders, ok.]
If you're concerned about getting trapped in a place where you would be outmatched and overcome, then I'm open for simple defence-training or you can discuss it with a warden to get a weapon.
Morgana's post about writing in the mirror, Anya's post about blood on her clothes as well as the illness and bad feeling would seem to point to this scenario.
The next exception is a port known as Silent Hill. This was a difficult port where we were warned about what was to occur and were given time to fight it. That's the less likely scenario, but presents its own difficulty in survival. Riddick's post about the CES might indicate that his is the case.
As this is the only indicator and isn't out of the realms of being an indicator of the Mirror Barge, it seems to be more likely to be this alternate Barge.
Of course, these warnings may be something else entirely, but even then, it's best to make sure you're in a good position to defend yourself or out.
If anyone has anything to add, or questions or concerns I'll be happy to field them. I would also welcome input from those who experienced either of the events I've mentioned.

Except this boat takes us to realities our actual timelines don't, and she's come out of the woodwork 'ere like a bad smell. She's the version of me that's a warden on the mirror Barge.
And Wynter, I'm not being funny, but she'd eat you for breakfast and not even spit out the gristle. I've arranged a few people to 'ave 'er killed if it comes to it, but please watch yourself, eh?

Of course.

Just that she'll know what you are right off; she'll probably be able to spot that you're not the Wynter she's expecting. It could be a problem.
Then again, you might be changed too, and that could make you as dangerous as she is. 'Ow good d'you think an evil version of you might be at subsuming someone else's will?
